SATURDAY 6th FEBRUARY 2021

Girls Rugby Scholarships available for September 2021 for girls 15 years old and upwards

Llandovery College has an outstanding rugby history and a proud reputation of producing top-level rugby players alongside excellent examination results. Former Wales Womens captain Carys Phillips and Rachel Poolman are past students of Llandovery College. Old Boys Alun Wyn Jones and George North are recent additions to the more than 50 former students awarded over 550 caps for Wales, a record eclipsing any other Welsh school in the history of the game.

The Llandovery College Girls Rugby Programme is supported by the Welsh Rugby Union in line with their Girls Rugby Pathway.

In 2019 Llandovery College Girls were the highest placed Welsh girls team in the U18s competition at Rosslyn Park and, in the same year, our U15 girls also won the Carmarthen Cup.

Clare Flowers, Head of Llandovery College Sports Department, is herself a former rugby international having gained 75 caps during her career.

An exciting Sixth Form Exchange Programme offers students the opportunity to play in New Zealand for Feilding High School which is renowned for producing a number of female internationals.

At Llandovery College we offer a bespoke rugby training programme and a fully equipped, state of the art gym, accompanied with small class sizes and individual attention from teachers. We are delighted to announce a new partnership with the Scarlets and the Ospreys and the appointment of Ioan Cunningham as Director of Llandovery College Elite Rugby. We enjoy a close working relationship with the Welsh Rugby Union and the Welsh Exiles.

This event and physical training sessions are dependent on Coronavirus restrictions.

Girl rugby players are invited to be assessed for a Llandovery College Sports Scholarship on Saturday 6th February.
